Jaime is a renowned lawyer from Universidad del Rosario, exempted of graduation exams requirement due to his academic excellence. He holds a specialization in contract law and a master’s degree in private law from the same university. He also holds a degree in International Relations. His expertise in contract law and international relations has allowed him to successfully negotiate and implement domestic and international business contracts in both Spanish and English.

He has extensive experience in drafting and reviewing various contractual vehicles, including Letters of Intent, Binding Offers, MOUs, NDAs, distribution agreements, commercial agency, franchising, international sale and purchase of goods, supply, joint ventures, consignment, licensing, and intellectual property assignments.

In the corporate realm, Jaime has implemented strategies to enhance corporate efficiency, such as mergers, spin-offs, Stock Purchase Agreements, Asset Purchase Agreements, capital reduction with reimbursement of contributions, and acquisition and issuance of shares. He also advises on intellectual property matters, including administrative, extraprocedural, and procedural issues. He has successfully defended IP rights in numerous litigation cases, including injunctions, extraprocedural evidence, infringement actions, and unfair competition.

Advisor on regulatory and sanitary matters, mainly in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical and agrochemical sectors, in a variety of matters including the application for and renewal of sanitary registrations, the exercise of the Bolar exception, test data protection, the scope of advertising or promotion of over-the-counter and prescription drugs, and the drug price control regime, among others.

He is a member of the Rosarista Bar Association, the Colombian Institute of Civil and State Liability-IARCE, the Arbitration Network of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce and Secretary General of the Center for Integral Studies in Law (CEID).

Author of multiple articles and columns related to contract, corporate and intellectual property law, among which have been published “Three problems of the banking liability regime for electronic fraud in Colombia”, “What are the Umbrella Clauses in investment arbitration” and “Effects of the annulment of the arbitral award”.
